Pixie: never design without it

I’ve been using Pixie for years now, and I don’t know how I could write CSS design something (web-related) without it. It has to be the most convenient and effective way to capture colors for a site. See a color you like? CTRL+ALT+C gives you the HTML color code for any color your mouse is hovering over. CTRL+ALT+X opens the color mixer in case you want a slight variation of that color. It has proven itself to be very handy.

On our wedding site, I thought it was awesome you were able to design it in our exact colors by taking the colors from the bridesmaid dress…good job, Pixie!

I will always have a place in my heart for Pixie, but alas I have yet to find a solid alternative on the Mac.

I concur, Chris. Pixie is an awesome tool, but I can’t find anything on the Mac that can stand toe-to-toe.

Is it pre-packaged with the Mac? Or is it free? I’d like to try it out. One of the goals of us having Macs is to use it for what we do, and see if we’re more productive on it. If so, there’s a chance we may adopt them later on. So, the more tools I know about that are inline with what I do, the better.

Update: By “us” I mean my team at work, just so you know. There has to be good reason for us to spend the money to switch over to Macs, obviously.

I think you are confused – this are no good alternatives on the Mac. Pixie does the job perfectly, and although I’ve tried many apps on the Mac, they all stink compare to the simplicity of Pixie.

Ha… way to read, Ryan. I read both comments (yours and Nick’s) in warp speed, and somehow interpreted that as you (Chris) found an alternative on the Mac, and Nick was wondering what it was.

Just leave me alone.
